Our volunteers play a pivotal role in making sure we are able to fulfill our mission to protect whales & dolphins. Volunteers assist in the day-to-day operation of our Connect Center, allowing our full-time staff to allocate their resources where they are best used.
Most of our volunteers enjoy a meaningful experience as a part of our small team, as being a volunteer here is more than just donating your time - it is dedicating your experience for the betterment of marine mammal conservation.
We're honored that you are considering donating your time to become a DPMMR volunteer.
All volunteers begin by learning more about DPMMR and our daily operations by assisting our Guest Service team with check-ins, answering guest questions, photographing guest programs, and helping in the gift shop. After gaining experience with our Guest Service team, volunteers can begin volunteering in our Animal Care department.
Volunteers must commit to completing a minimum of one 4-hour shift each week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Once a completed application and payment are received, a volunteer coordinator will review and process your application. Applicants will be contacted via email regarding the status of their application. Volunteer positions are limited with each department and are filled as vacancies occur. Volunteer applications will still be processed as they are received regardless of open positions and will remain on file for 365 days from the processing date should a vacancy occur. Once accepted to the program, volunteers will receive more information from the volunteer coordinator regarding orientation, training, and scheduling.
